𝘌𝘢: 𝘖𝘯𝘦-𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘥𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘥𝘪𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺 is the first album by Nina Baietta and presents itself as a small poetic manifesto.
It consists of eight compositions based on a system of signs that aims to enter that space between musical code and human verbal language. The solo is an organic, living device in motion and has transformative properties depending on the use of its speakers, much like a language. The form is always improvised, while the material is always predefined.
Here Nina Baietta performs “EA” at the Venice Museum of Modern Art – Ca’ Pesaro, during the exhibition “Giulio Aristide Sartorio: the poem of the human life.“
Zeroscena’s direction creates a visual dialogue between the singer and the monochromatic figures that animate Sartorio’s poem. The performer is perfectly integrated with the bodies of the pictorial cycle. On the other hand, the voice, in a clear rupture with traditional verbal language, stands in profound contrast with the Roman painter’s mythological and Symbolist inspiration. The slow-motion effect emphasizes the physical nature of the voice, highlighting the performer’s micro-movements and allowing the listener to enter into the mechanics of the sound. In this brief video performance, the languages of image, body, and voice meet and intertwine.
